Werner Adriaenssens
Biography
Werner Adriaenssens is curator of the collection 20th Century and a.i. head of department Decorative Arts at the Royal Museums of Art & History (Brussels) and professor Decorative Arts at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
He graduated in Art Sciences at the VUB and obtained a PHD in Archeology and Art Sciences at VUB (2007). His specialization is Belgian Art Nouveau and Art Deco. He is the author of several articles and books about the period and artists working in several disciplines of the branch of decorative arts of the period 1890-1940. As curator he organized several exhibitions as La Dynastie Wolfers (Design museum Ghent, 2006-2007), Tables en majesté (BEL-Vue, 2012), Henry van de Velde Passion Function Beauty (Royal Museums of Art and History, 2013-2014) and Horta-Wolfers Reopening of the Wolfers Frères shop 1912 (Royal Museums of Art and History, 2017-2018), …
