On 20 October, 2022, PhD student Hanne Schonkeren receives the Thierry Stanley Beherman Prize for her thesis The making and meaning of early medieval silver equal-armed fibulae with filigree decoration: A case study of the curious fibula from Snellegem by means of experimental archaeology in the presence of Mr. Jacques Beherman.
During the ceremony, Hanne will present her past and ongoing research in a public lecture titled Thinking through making: Unraveling goldsmiths’ work through Reconstruction, Replication, and Re-enactment. Hanne’s presentation will be followed by an invited lecture by dr. Wim Nys (DIVA Museum, Antwerp) titled Designing Silver in the Southern Netherlands in the 18th Century.
