The research seminar “Florence and Renaissance Bruges” (Monday 5 May 2025) will explore the multiple connections between these two cities in the 14th-16th century. It will discuss, among others, the activities of Florentine merchants in Bruges, the domestic interiors of Bruges citizens, and the reception of ‘Flemish’ culture in Renaissance Florence.
All interested students and researchers are welcome to attend.
Online attendance is possible via this link.
The seminar is organised jointly by research groups VISU (Pieter Martens) and SHOC (Bart Lambert), within the framework of the FWO research project “Flanders in Florence: Architectural Exchanges from North to South, 1400-1600” directed by Pieter Martens in collaboration with the University of Florence.
