On Friday 13 March 2026, VISU-member Katarzyna Ruchel-Stockmans will take part a the two-day seminar Mapping Diaspora: Voices, Practices, and Identities Beyond Borders with a lecture called "Disrupting Memory: The Afterlife of Communist Monuments". The seminar will take place at Università Ca' Foscari in Venice, Italy, and brings together international artists, scholars, and cultural practitioners from diverse backgrounds to reflect on the theme of the Russian intellectual and artistic diaspora.
Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the sessions will explore the trajectories of artists, thinkers, and cultural actors, examining how migration, exile, and transnational mobility shape creative practices, critical discourse, and forms of identity in the contemporary context.
