We are delighted to invite you to our next guest lecture as part of the Global Art Histories series.
On Monday, March 2, 2026, Dr. Marta Wódz , KU LEUVEN, will present her lecture titled “Histories to Harvest: Agriculture, Land and Ecology in Contemporary Art Practices in Palestine”.
Marta Wódz is an art historian based in Brussels. In 2025, she defended her PhD dissertation, "Grassroots Histories. Plants in Contemporary Artistic Practices as Anarchives of Marginalized Knowledge" at KU Leuven where she currently holds a postdoctoral mandate and teaches the course "Art and Ecology," which she co-developed. She initially graduated with an MA in Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2017), later continuing her education at the College of Inter-Area Individual Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw, where she obtained two MA degrees: in Art History (2020) and in Culture Studies (2022).
The Global Art Histories lecture series is organized by the VISU Research Group, aiming to introduce global, post-colonial, and decolonial perspectives on art and visual culture. These perspectives are crucial for understanding the complex histories and power dynamics that shape artistic practices and visual representations, fostering a more inclusive and critical approach to art history.
