Laiwo Xie

Xie Laiwo is a PhD student at VUB, researching "Contemporary art practices in China" under the supervision of Professor Katarzyna Ruchel-Stockmans. His main research interests include film, documentary, visual culture, and media studies. Currently, Xie Laiwo is writing a doctoral dissertation related to contemporary Chinese independent films. He is also an independent filmmaker, having directed several feature films and documentaries, including Speaking to the Air, Folly, and The Path of Revenants.
