Jiao Feng
Biography
Feng Jiao is a curator, researcher and writer residing in Belgium. Her interest lies in artistic practices in the Pan-Chinese region. Her curatorial research explores the politics of aesthetics, the potential of micro-histories, and the intricate relationships among place, history, and memory. Currently, she is conducting research at VUB on "Big History, Small Histories - Contemporary Chinese Art's Potential to Resist Official Storytelling" under the supervision of Professor Katarzyna Ruchel-Stockmans.
Her writings have been featured in various publications, including Artnet, LEAP, artforum.com.cn, The Art Newspaper, Vogue China, Mind, Vision, Numéro China, Noblesse, and Modern Weekly. Recent pieces include "Martin Wong: Malicious Mischief" (published on artforum.com.cn, 2023), "From South to North: On Tong Wenmin’s Exhibition" (published in artnow, summer issue, 2022), "Hu Wei: Affair" (published on artforum.com.cn, 2022), and "Unfinished Collectivism" (published in LEAP, 2021). Recent curatorial programs encompass "Retracing The Current, Follow The Current, I Wonder" at CHAxARTxRTM (Rotterdam, The Netherlands, 2023), and "Dancing Forward, Looking Backward" at Kunsthal Gent (Gent, Belgium, 2023). She pursued her studies in Curatorial Studies at KASK & Conservatorium/School of Arts Gent during the academic year 2022-2023.
