Helke Smet
Biography
Helke Smet is a Belgian art historian and researcher living in Brussels. After years of working in the communication departments of several Belgian visual- and performing-arts institutions, she enrolled at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she completed a master’s degree in Art History with a thesis on the Société Anonyme. Currently she is a PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is conducting research on the European female artists in the Société Anonyme Collection.
For the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Société Anonyme, she wrote an article on Stefi Kieslers intriguing ‘Typo-plastics’ (art works which she made on a typewriter) that will be published December 2021 in a special bulletin by the Yale University Art Gallery for this occasion.
