From 28 October to 1 November 2026, the SLARG Research Exhibition is on view in the Sint Lucas Antwerpen showroom (Van Schoonbekestraat 143, Antwerpen): a group exhibition of works-in-progress, experiments, and proposals by Sint Lucas Antwerpen's artist-researchers.
VISU member Brenda Bikoko presents The Kanza family, an installation resulting from a one-year research on how to address colonial photography in a way that overcomes the trauma of colonialism without neglecting its impact. She developed the work in collaboration with her father, Baudouin Bikoko, archivist and photographer.
On Friday 30 October at 14:30, Brenda will give a presentation about the process, which started with the exploration of speculative methodologies as a way to rehumanise the people in colonial photographs — a topic she has worked with on several occasions as a member of Troubled Archives.
